Greenweb.semil.co is a project of SEMIL GREEN WEB aimed at helping to raise awareness of the environmental impact of the web and provide technical solutions on how to reduce the CO2 emission, plant tree to balance the amount and create a greener web.

With this aim:

– We have developed an AI-based method to estimate the CO2 emission of your webpage. This amount might not be 100% accurate as your data transfer over the wire is not accurate enough. Our AI model uses your industry segment as a variable to compare the CO2 emissions within a specific industry. 

– Our AI model also collects your average monthly visits. This number is important to collect because on average a website has around 1,000 monthly page visits and the CO2 emission for the whole website will increase dramatically when the average monthly visits are also includes in the formulation

– We collect all information submitted to our carbon calculator form (web address and page views) and store it in a publicly accessible database.

– We are also using your contact information to build our precious network. By this means, we will opt in your email for the future marketing updates and information.

– This information is used to estimate the annual carbon emissions of the submitted website and any other metrics that we can derive regarding the websites environmental impact.  The results are stored in our database and published on this website.

– The information published on this website, including data regarding the environmental impact of specific websites, is free for the public to use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License

– We also use Google Analytics to gather data about the number of people using the website, their location and the devices used, in order to help us improve performance of the website and to better tailor the tool and content to our user base

– We also use the heatmap analysis to improve our User Experience (UX). 

– We will store information sent via our contact form(s) in our email system so that we can respond to your query.  It will only be accessible to team members at SEMIL GREEN WEB who are relevant to answering your query.

– If you have submitted data to this website that is not otherwise publicly available and you would like us to remove it from our database or if you have any other queries regarding privacy, please contact us using greenweb@semil.co.
